Hey y’all, it’s been a while. I moved to Tennessee a couple of years ago. A group of friends and I visited Houston for the Astros home opener and decided to stop by Billy’s in Scott on the way back to Baton Rouge.
Usually the boudin steals the show at Billy’s, but I wanted to feature another awesome item. The Crawfish Pistolette is pretty damn good. It’s a lightly breaded and fried Pistolette stuffed with a tasty crawfish stuffing. The bread itself is very pillowy and the stuffing has a nice amount of crawfish tails in it. Each bite is delicious until the end. I recommend!
I know I visit a lot of #LouisianaAF places. I also realize the name of this restaurant is one of the most famous pair of names in Louisiana folklore. You think i’m yanking you chain by writing about a place like this. Well, just keep on reading to find out about this gem of a place in Houma.
Not all rest areas are created equal. Not all rest areas are #LouisianaAF. The Atchafalaya National Heritage Area welcome center is probably one of the best interstate rest stops you’ll visit in the country. definitely best in the state.
Man I was down there in the Red Stick having lunch with some ol’ couyons a couple week ago and one of dem said “Ol K-Boy, when you gonna get that Louisiana blog back up an’ runnin?” I said “You know what, that mean ol’ web hosting gator over dere in Texas done ate up all my money. I need to get the site a new home up and running so I can keep sharing that Louisiana culture.” Now i’m set up on the host thats in motion, with that fancy little lock up there in the corner to make you feel all warm like a bowl full of duck and andouille gumbo.Continue reading “McGee’s Swamp Tour in Henderson, LA”
I want to start out by thanking a good friend of mine Marc Holmes for telling me about this place. Every time I go to Lafayette, I make an attempt to stop by and grab a hrimp poboy. This has to be one of the best shrimp poboys in Louisiana.Continue reading “Olde Tyme Grocery – Lafayette, Louisiana”
I love a good backroad! We were headed to the Boudin Festival in Scott, LA and Waze alerted us to a traffic Jam on I-10 just west of Port Allen, LA. Waze rerouted us onto Rosedale Road to bypass the jam. I’ve seen the road on maps, but I’ve never had a reason to travel it.
